1. Do an aerial.
2. Press Z (or R) within 20 frames of landing.

- You must be in an attack animation while landing, or pressing Z (or R) will do nothing.
- Unlike Melee, Z-canceling cancels all frames of landing animation rather than half.

I don't really understand how it can get any simpler.
And yet there are some people in Brawl tactical discussion saying:

"omgzorz, infinite jumping aerials is so hard... even harder than l-canceling lolololol!!!ONE11!!"
No.

okay. so you want to do it very near to the ground or whatever you are landing upon. how practical is this?

Seriously, Brawl won't have any good advanced moves anyways. The hit stun on that game is so low that, even with ssb64 lag cancels, it still wouldn't have combos which ruins the whole purpose of a fighting game.

*Stops rant*

sh dair (easiest to notice the lag)
press z before hitting the ground
repeat until you got the timing down
do the same for all aerials

do you want to do this after an attack hits, or if you miss the attack and hit the ground? or both?

Thats dumb, you're making Z cancel look so complicate.
Just press Z before landing.
I broke 2 of my controller's Z button cause I keep pressing Z all long of the fight, so I never miss one :)

I prefer just knowing the timing and pressing it once, but meh.

Can anyone post or make a tutorial on Z-canceling?

press z before hitting the ground
repeat until you got the timing down

You'll want to do it for both, it's very useful in both situations.

With Z-canceling in ssb64, while pressing Z once at the right time works, it also works if you mash Z repeatedly before hitting the ground. This is only really good in an emergency or if you just want to see the effects of Z-Canceling before you have the timing down, because trying to chain in A-button moves while you're mashing Z is going to make you perform a grab when you actually intended to jab/smash/whatever.
