Z Button Not Working on Dolphin

So I bought a Hydra GameCube controller and adapter to use on Dolphin a while back, and the controller came with a Z button that was not recognized by Dolphin. All the other buttons were recognized, but I didn't think too much of it since the controller broke down a few days later. However, the replacement's Z button also wasn't recognized by Dolphin. I am wondering if anyone has had/solved this problem in the past.

yeah that's where you went wrong. All 3rd party controllers suck. I started out with one myself so I would know, I had both a madcatz and a gamestop one and boy, they're horrible. I'm certain there's just something weird about the z-button that makes it undetectable by the controller adapter.
Is there any way for you to return the controller? An original controller is only 25$ on amazon right now, thats maybe 15$ more for something that will last for ages and you can even sell it again whereas noone will buy a used 3rd party controller.
