I've found custom moves to be one of the most interesting additions made in Smash 4. Despite them being a total pain in the ass to collect, I've been having lots of fun experimenting with them and trying out new characters. There are lots of characters who I enjoy much more with custom specials, and some characters I can only play when they're on.

The Wizard's Drop Kick is an incredible move for Ganondorf. It fixes 2 major issues with Ganondorf; his recovery and his difficulty with projectiles. It allows him to leap right over projectiles in his path and soar horizontally across the stage. Its incredibly helpful for recovery and lets Ganondorf last even longer. Dark Fists is also really good. It travels even higher than his default recovery, gives him super armor on startup and acts as a decent killing move and follow up for Flame Choke.

Toon Link's Fire arrows are also another really good one. I liked playing as Young Link back in Melee and I missed the Fire Arrows in Brawl, so I was really happy that they made their return this games. They're really useful for controlling the stage and off-stage gimping shenanigans cause of their low range.

Custom Villager is insanely broken IMO...and also incredibly fun. His customs for Pocket aren't that great but his other customs are crazy. Pushy Lloid shoves everybody to the side of the stage, extreme Balloon Trip makes Villager nearly ungimpable and the tripping sapling/counter tree totally destroys some matchups. They overall make him incredibly good for stage control.

Other ones I enjoy are Pit's more controllable arrows, Samus' Dense Charge Shot, Palutena's Lightweight, Doc's Fast Pills + Soaring Tornado and DK's Kong Cyclone.

What are your favorite custom moves?

Jump Inhale for Kirby. It's a small change, but the techniques for using the move change quite a bit.

Robin's Fire Wall is neat because it almost always lands on the ground regardless of how high up you are, and it blocks projectiles, but otherwise it's kinda subpar.

Scalding FLUDD seems to have earned a place in my heart for actually making FLUDD useful to me in my opinion in terms of racking up damage.

I also seem to like Dashing Assault on Lucina because it makes her a bit more mobile, plus it gives another recovery option for me (albeit horizontal rather than vertical).

Angelic Missile and Celestial Fireworks are also my favorite customs because they're way more infinitely better than the default Side-B and Down-B for Palutena in my opinion.

Leaping rest is ridiculous and bad but it’s hilarious and I’ll be damned if I don’t play with it.

Shoutout to WDK and warlock blade too, for making :4ganondorf: 100% more fun.

Ganondorf has amazing customs.

Pikachu's Distant Thunder is alright if you are adamant about Thunderspiking and wanting to have the ability to do it.

Pac-Man's On-Fire Hydrant is silly.

I haven't unlocked enough to be able to say really anything else but when I do... when I do...

Timber Counter (the trip sapling), all of Bowser's, Mii Gunner's Down B bombs (because they're better than Samus's), Falco's exploding blaster, and Samus's quad laser just for laughs.

I haven't experienced that much with customs but for the two characers that I tried with customs:
:4dk:'s windboxes all over the place with both Storm Punch and the infamous Kong Cyclone. Both Jumping Headbutt and Stubborn Headbutt gives him more landing options, and I've come to really like Hot Slap to prevent some approaches and edge guard to an extent.
Pretty much all of :rosalina:'s customs are amazing. I often go with Luma Warp, Floaty Star Bits , Launch Star, and Guradian Luma
