Your Event Could Be a Part of the FUSE Doubles Circuit

Ever wanted your event to be part of something major in the world of Smash? The FUSE doubles circuit might be your chance!

Earlier this year, the Genesis event series' head organizer, Sheridan "Dr. Z" Zalewski, announced via Facebook that the Genesis team will be teaming up with smash.gg to create Fuse, a doubles-focused circuit. All events in the circuit will reward points to top players; the eight teams with the most points will then be invited to the circuit finals, which will take place on July 16th in Las Vegas, NV.

On Mar. 31, requests for Super Smash Bros. Melee FUSE Doubles Circuit went live. Tournament organizers, admins, and organizations will have the opportunity to get their events to be a part of the FUSE doubles circuit.

These are the following requirements to be on the Tour:
  • Must stream top 4 doubles with commentary
  • Must be run on smash.gg
  • Must be a 100% open event (no Arcadians/invitationals/amateur brackets)
  • Must conform to generally accepted standard doubles rules
  • Must get a minimum of 16 teams entered (if you don’t have 16 yet but can show you’re likely to get 16, it’s OK to apply)
  • Event must be between Apr 1 and July 1
  • We will take events on a case-by-case basis but we expect to approve nearly all events that meet those criteria
How the circuit will be calculated will be via point system. Each team's top 3 Tour results by points count towards their circuit points total. But teams can keep attending Tour events to improve their top 3 results. Remember, only teams are awarded points, not individuals. The point values for events are based on final doubles attendance, shown in the image below.

If you or any other organization is interested in this event, make sure you click here to fill out the required information. The Fuse team will take events on a case-by-case basis and expect to approve nearly all events that meet those criteria.

Author's Note: Doubles matches in the Super Smash Bros. competitive community have been an exciting and explosive event to participate in since the meta has been developed. Given how important the doubles meta have become to pro players, and the growing audience, it's good to see the Melee community attempting to make sure fans have something to watch all EVO weekend long. Stay tuned to Smashboards for all your Fuse related news.
