I don't know if a thread like this has been made already, but how do you have your controls set up for Smash 3DS? I'll input mine first.

A: Jump
B: Attack
Y: Special
X: Shield
L: Jump
R: Grab

Tap Jump: OFF

Although I have the L button set to jump, I never use that button to jump at all. But because you're forced to have two buttons that make you jump, I just decided to make the second jump button be set to L, as I'm more comfy with using the R button to grab.

L = Grab (I was planning to change this to R like on Brawl but got so used to it in the demo so I never did)
R = Jump
A = attack
B = Special
X and Y= Jump
Tap Jump OFF (just turned this off today, it was impossible to up tilts without jumping otherwise)

default controls with y set to grab instead of jump, grab as a face button is way better IMO, hitting L feels awkward for me.

Tap jump off also.

You can't have three jump buttons. Which button do you have set for "Shield"?

L = Grab, i never use it anyway
R = Shield (usually just shieldgrab when i grab people)
A = Normal Attack
Y = Special Attack
X/B = Jump

Dont know where i got this funky setup from where my normals and specials are split like that. I just kept defaulting to wanting to hit X to jump, A to normal hit and Y to special for some reason. Never ever changed smash controls before except to turn off tilt jumps. Finally said screw it and changed it to the above setup and i never had a button-mixup problem since.

Default. Only change is tap jump off. So annoying when I go back to play Melee/S64...

I play using the default control scheme with tap jump still on. I've always played with it on and I'm actually a bit shocked that so many play with it off.

L - Jump (Dead button, never use it, only Jump because you have to move the controls instead of just reassigning them)
R - Shield
A - Attack
B - Special
X - Jump
Y - Grab
Tap Jump - Off

Default controls with L and R switched and tap jump turned off. I much prefer the grab button on the right side like how the Z button is.

While I experimented with L or R being a primary jump button, they were not comfortable to use and frustrating to short hop with.

Ultimately, I went back to Default with stick jumping turned off.

Though I do hold the system a little odd. My right index finger rests on the X button, giving me a dedicated jump finger.

Didn't we have a thread on this before? Whatever...

A: Grab
B: Jump
X: Attack
Y: Special
L: Shield
R: Jump which is never used because there are two Jumps for some stupid reason. Why can't we just freaking disable it or make it a dedicated screenshot button or something. Hell, make it a dedicated Final Smash button.
Tap Jump: Off

For a while I was using the default controls with tap jump off, using R+A to grab. I eventually swapped L (which I now never use) with Y for much easier grabs and item tosses.
