Your argument may be null and void!

This is not a thread to discuss Toad

Many characters are wanted for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Some are wished for by many, such as Sonic and Ridley, while some are supported a small group of people, such as Skull Kid. Us smashers debate about which characters have higher chances than others. However, some of the arguments that we use may be null and void.... Why? Well, Sakurai will not always do the most practical thing. For instance, look what happened to Toad.

Toad is returning as Peach's B-move.

Now, whenever someone said, "Toad can't be playable in Brawl because he is Peach's B-move!" a Toad fan such as myself would say, "Toad can easily be replaced by Toadsworth or one of Peach's moves from Super Princess Peach."

But did that happen?

Unfortunately, no.

So while reason showed that Toad wasn't limited to Peach's B-move, he's still hidden under Peach's dress.

What does this mean for other characters?

Well, some of the other arguments that we use may also not be portrayed in Brawl.

1. A moveset may be created for any character.

This is an argument used a lot for responding to people who say, "A moveset can't be created for that character!" Sure, a totally new moveset was created for Captain Falcon and a few other characters, but that doesn't mean that Sakurai will want to make a moveset for Unknown or Waluigi (two characters that I don't want playable in Brawl, but some do).

The next point is very similar.

2. Any character can be Luigified

Everyone says that Falco, Ganondorf, and other characters that were 'clones' in Brawl can get new moves so they won't be so similar to other characters. But Peach could have just as easily changed her B-move, but that didn't happen. Is Sakurai keeping most movesets the same? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

3. Resizing

The argument used the most against Ridley is that he is too big (other than the argument that he is to cool for Brawl ;) .) Of course, characters such as Bowser have been resized. And Kirby has been enlarged, so characters such as Captain Olimar don't have to worry. Right?

Well, I do hope that both of these characters are playable in Brawl. But what if Sakurai says that Ridley should NOT be shrunk because he wouldn't think that it would fit for him to be just a bit larger than Bowser. Of course, Ridley WAS downsized for the Melee intro and a few games.

But, like with Toad, Sakurai might MINDGAME us and not put in characters for stupid reasons.

You may say, "Sakurai is smart and he wouldn't do anything stupid."

I agree with you on this, but you can never predict what Sakurai's motives are...

Note: I fully support Ridley, Captain Olimar, Falco, and Ganondorf for Brawl, I'm just using them as examples.

Thanks for reading!

Well, Sakurai will put in what he thinks will be worthy of possibly the last smash.

Some characters just don't get the spotlight, like toad.

And Sakurai could make a new moveset for anybody. He's creative.

Last but not least...Resizing characters defeats most of their purposes of being mean and threatening. Like a smaller Ridley just wouldnt be as scary. I have no doubt Ridley will be in the game. But I think making him a PC would be a difficult task

Good points, but the old characters aren't all going to keep their same moves, and old clones will probably be redone completely. C. Falcon's moves weren't made-up as much as you might think, he had a show, games, I think comics and he was a bounty hunter. Every character had moves that were made-up.

Then why didn't he replace Toad with Toadsworth as Peach's B-move?

He didn't even have to make Toad playable... Limiting Toad to a move for a different character just doesn't seem right.
srry but toad never realy had a chance i mean what he gonna do he cant really fight he's small his arms ar super short he doesnt seem like a fighter, sure kirby is small but he is a fighter thats what he does in his games but toad has never so much as been anything other than a supporting character, and been playable in a few games like mario kart and mario strikers

The games showed nothing more than maybe a portrait of him.The anime came out long after 64 and Brawl... and none of his moves relate to bounty hunting in anyway.

CF had a completely made up moves et.

If this turns into a Toad discussion I'll have to move part of it over to the Toad thread...

Many characters didn't fight before Smash, yet they appeared as characters. This argument is used as much as the three above, but it is more concrete.

And Toad was the main in Wario's Woods and a main protagonist in Super Mario Bros. 2.

But anyway, this is not to discuss Toad, this is to discuss which arguments may be null and void.

Your reasonings are inaccurate. Short hands, small character? Does Kirby ring a bell?
"Kirby was a star of a game, and only main characters deserve a spot in Brawl.", look at Pikachu, and the rest of the Pokémon for that matter. Yoshi can also be used as an example as well.

As for Toad being a playable character, I never thought that it would happen. But I didn't really mind the fact that others wanted him in Brawl. Peach's update didn't fully deconfirm Toad, but it defintely lowered his chances. And as for the movesets argument, I'm pretty sure that Sakurai can think of something for existing clones such as Ganondorf and Falco, he does have a creative mind, afterall ;)

There is already a thread like this, which covers many more arguments much more clearly. This is just a combination of that thread and Toad discussion. But many Toad fans I know still admit to me that they don't think Toad will make it.

So what is the point of this thread?

Nothing Sakurai has done have made any of the three points you posted "null and void".

I'm sure Sakurai comes to these forums and laughs his freakin' head off reading these posts.

"They think SONIC will be in Brawl!!?? HaHA! They'd never guess Frog Suit Mario is the super secret character!! HA!"

I just whant to point out that Bowser has been bigger than Ridley, Always.

Also, you should use Ganondorf in an example about Toad, he is much more important than Toad.

Besides, he's afraid of MArio:
