Darkyellowz
Smash Rookie
Hey there.
If the, rather flashy, name of the topic didn't say it. I'm new to both comp smash, and to this forum.
I've wondered onto here many a time, to look at various things and catch up on smash, as I tend to live under a rock. But I think now, it's time for me to come out, to taste the sunshine, and smash.
Though I have a bunch of an introduction of myself upon my profile, I'll make a more detailed one here, then go and spruce that one up to be more condensed.
I'm Darkyellowz, but you can call me Darky if you don't wanna say it all. My smashing truly first began when I got a copy of Brawl for one of my birthdays. I'm quite young, so I didn't have the best start in the smash community, but I will assure you. I too, hate Metaknight.
Before then, I had gone over to my friends' houses. Emulation was a big thing, as I lived in a small town that was an hour and a half from a major city. And even then, most of the games we wanted to play, weren't even in stock. Well, not for a cheap price.
Over the course of, around two years, I lost my copy of Brawl. This is what then got me into other things, particularly Writing and IT subjects. It's also the time I was able to have a go at Melee. To keep it short, it just wasn't for me.
Around the time of Sm4sh, I was finishing up with High School. I'm Australian, by the way, in Canberra where you go from High School to College, while still being in the year that's typically high school. Around this time, I was able to start getting back in. It was also the first time I bought a physical copy of a game day one.
At the start, I was pretty much like almost everyone else. Little Mac was my boy. I would constantly use him to try and get better. But, as time went on, I began to play less. The online portion was what got me, as my 3DS would constantly DC mid match, or whenever it feels like it. But as the year drew to a close, a was able to obtain a copy of Smash 4 the WiiU. That's when it all changed.
I began playing more and more, and as it came to the prime time of the new year, I picked up Lucina some. Mostly because I would watch Marth players and get absolutely hypnotised. Well, at first I would play Marth. But it was only after one fateful 3DS local Sm4sh game amongst a group of friends, my fate was changed.
Though I was not the best, I was still lucky enough to get close to a win in a 1v1 against the group of friend's best Sheik. And this was some ZeRo level Sheik.
It was a long time after that, but in the same year, that I went to my first comp. Gammacon 2015. Though it was more of a con than a comp, it also gave me the experience of getting out there. I'm sure this was some time after watching a video from ZeRo, about getting out there and having the experience. And I'll tell you, it was one hell of an experience. I lost within the first round, as they had to make it a 4 player free for all. I had some experience in 4 player free for all, but not like that. Not when there were actual people who weren't fooling around. I was also, at the time, ready to play Mewtwo, as he was still new (yet you could buy him.) But, in the light of it, I went with Lucina.
My tag, is probably the one experience that's forged forever in my head. Like when you finally get that highscore on that one game you've been cramming nights into.
CHALNGFATE
It was a momentous occasion for me. Just as it was being there. Kinda like an EVO, yet I wasn't well recognized. Hell, I made one joke about there not being streaming for the event, just to have a friendly laugh and maybe not get too nervous at the event. It was continued as I took my seat, "hey, uh, Darky was it?" "Yeah?" "I thought you were good enough for streaming?" It was kinda cool, that my first experience in that setting wasn't met with distaste or hate. Hell, a guy with the name tag Salty used Little Mac and won. My friend with the Sheik was also in the tourney, he made it to last round.
Well, sorry for the long post. I like writing out things, I guess. But, it was also to show that I too, have shared the experience of competitive Smash. And while I'm young, I wish to better myself within the area.
I guess it also comes with a greater title, a title for glory. The Australian Smashers list seems mighty lonely, at 'least, those from Canberra. I mean, it's either that or there's a list hidden somewhere.
But, that's been a dream since my first watching of VGbootcamp. To join the likes of those in the Australian community.
Well, again, sorry, rambling.
Anyway, I hope you can welcome me, and forgive me for rambling for so long. I'll probably be here awhile.
