Yoshi in the SubSpace Emissary

As we all know, Yoshi has been confirmed to be in this mode since we know of the Subspace Emissary mode (not counting the This World update). We've seen him in a screenshot with Link:

As well as in a short clip in the latest Subspace Emissary trailer, again, with Link. The question is, what exactly is Yoshi's role in the Subspace storyline? And how exactly did he get paired up with Link?
Perhaps the Subspace army has taken over Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi went to look for help, and met Link who was on his way to save Zelda (or Peach) after hearing about the kidnapping... While I doubt this is what actually happens, it is a (small) possibility. It's all a little too vague around Yoshi's role for now.

I believe you're right, but this is what happens if you set Peach free. The Dojo site says that based on your decisions and actions, the story line changes.

Yeah I know, but I was just thinking of a possible situation. I made this topic so we can actually discuss several situations that could happen, and perhaps edit the first post when more information becomes available about Yoshi's story.. ehm, Yoshi's role.

from the pic, it kinda looks like yoshi was running after the halberd for some reason (it stole an egg?) and ran into link. also in the background, y does that mountain on the right look really random? that could possibly be the cave/dungeon which link and yoshi enter.

Stole an egg? =/ You don't see such a ship flying over everyday, and maybe he saw it dropping that purple stuff (it was called shadow bugs, right?), and decided to give chase and meet up with Link that way.
And that mountain might very well be a cave or dungeon, because I think Yoshi and Link were in a cave in the trailer.

It does look like Yoshi was running, as there is a small dust cloud near hir right foot. However, I don't think the whole "stealing an egg" story is likely. Why would they steal an egg? I think it seems pointless, although the Hammer Bros. stole DK's bananas. It's posssible, I guess.

Yeah, that's true, but still it seems somewhat unlikely to me. DK had his banana's stolen before, but Yoshi never had any eggs stolen, unless you count his trapped friends in Super Mario World. Unless there's something special about the egg they would have stolen, I really doubt they would steal it. Or they would want to raise their own Boshi, and he is somehow involved in the story and is playable as an alt. costume. Heh, that would be cool.

lol Yea, I find it unlikely too. I think they just ticked him off, which is a sad mistake, as they will now feel the wrath of a giant, green, dino. And if that isn't bad enough, Yoshi's teamed with a swordsman who just so happens to be equipped with a clawshot, a boomerang, and a mysterious unlimited amount of arrows and bombs. Oh, they'll get whopped.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember seeing a very early SSE video of Yoshi running through a forrest. The ancient minister probably wants all of the good guys in brawl so he can take over the world or something, so he sends primids to attack Yoshi, Yoshi defeats them, runs through the forrest, and meets up with Link, who is looking for Zelda, and they team up against even more primids on the Halbred.
Or maybe, Yoshi was running because a boss turned Link into a trophy, and he meets up with Diddy and Fox, since they were next to a forrest? Ahh this is soooo confusing, tooo many possibilities.

Have you ever thought of the fact that they're not showing everything in the area and that Link can still be in the screenshot with Yoshi, and vice versa? They're just screenshots showing off the enemies, so the shots are clearly focussed on them, with some screens having a character in the shot to make it look better.

They're just screenshots showing off the enemies, so the shots are clearly focussed on them, with some screens having a character in the shot to make it look better.

Yeah, but seeing as how the subspace is going now, most characters separate, and team up with new ones, or they get turned into trophies. Mario was with Kirby, Peach, and Zelda, Zelda got turned into a trophy, Mario teamed up with Pit, and Kirby teamed up with Peach.
With D.K., Diddy, Bowser, and Fox, D.K. and diddy fought Bowser, got separated, and Diddy met up with Fox, and the whereabouts of D.K. are unknown.

It is possible that Yoshi and Link are still partnered up in those photos though, throughout the old dojo updates, we see glimpses of videos of them in various locations.

What you said seems possible, but there's a few things that are missing:

1.You only mentioned Bowser. Wario is also a bad guy (Gametrailer from E for All somewhere, and I don't feel like finding it and posting a link).
2. Meta-Knight is in the Fall movie teamed with the Ice Climbers. (link: http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/info/info02.html )
3. Mario, in the same Fall video as above, is shown fighting Petey, meaning if you choose Kirby and beat Mario, something different happens. So, in the very beginning, the storyline is changed, and only gets worse with the Zelda/Peach choice.

No sense in guessing, but let us imagine this moment.

Link is on the top of a cliff as the Primids draw him closer to the edge. Swinging his sword wildly Link damages some of the incoming Primid but they still draw in. The Army closes in and with no choice Link grits his teeth and jumps. Just so it happens Link Lands on the Yoshi Epona style who has just so happened come to save the hero.

I have to be honest, I thought he was gonna get turned into a trophy, because I thought Nintendo would chose Link to live over him to get captured by villians, but he survived, and stands alongside is 4 allies in a battle that will be too epic to imagine:D!

Hey, I was thinking, maybe each character faces one of the bad guys in the SSE in a 3 stock match, and defeats them, and Mario or someone faces the final boss, when the others get turned into trophies. Think about it, its perfect.
