Yaaay for the return of Ness...

Yeah, I played and beat Mother 3 several times, nice to see little Lucas show up...

Also nice to see him use movements and moves that I've never seen Ness perform, hopefully indicating the other kid with the big big head will show up too.

I like this 3D render of the Mother art style a lot... much better than the Melee style...

It's not that I don't want Ness in it's that Lucas' appearance significantly reduced his chances of returning.

Ness was mentioned, but that's all we can say at this point. At first, I thought that the caption on today's update ment that Ness would be included but Lucas would be stronger, but perhaps Sakurai means 'surpassing' as Lucas replacing Ness.

It's because there are plenty of other Mother characters that are more unique, who would be much better to include. Ness would be taking up extra space on a Franchise. I mean, just at Lucas and Ness, they're pretty much the same character. Lucas is really just an update to Ness, just like TP Link is an update to OOT Link. including him as anything but an alternate costume would be useless.

even if ness doesnt come back, which he should... he should at least be an alternate costume, like blood hawk or w/e for red falcon. But lucas & ness would be great for a mario/luigi like option . Unless just maybe... lucas has better up/down smash and better b attacks... I dunno; nostalgia vs new potential.

... What are you talking about? There's only one picture where Lucas is actually using a move, and it doesn't look like any move Ness used in Melee.

Did we play the same Smash Bros games? I don't think those two attacks look like his down and forward air at all.

While he is timid in nature, he fights splendidly. Is it possible he can surpass even Ness?!

Sigh, it's amazing how Sakurai can actually mention an unannounced character in another character's update and say it in a way that tell us absolutely nothing... If you take "surpass" to mean "defeat," Ness is logically in. If you take "surpass" to mean "excel beyond the ability of," then Lucas is Ness' replacement... Sadly, it means nothing because the wording is too vague...
