Im fine with their merger as long as they don't abuse the monopoly they create. If they start jacking up the annual price, I'm sure my family will pull our subscription.

They have a nice deal going with the automobile industry though.

Considering that I've had both... I heavily prefer XM. Sirius only has like 3 channels that appeal to me!

Next year, they will combine their service into one program or at least, offer the major stations on one program. So we can listen to Opie and Antony AND Howard Stern. Oprah AND Martha Stewart. Football AND Baseball. It's a great thing overall.

Their prices MIGHT raise a few bucks, but they can't go too high because Satellite Radio has to compete with free radio too which is much harder.

Considering they are the same company now, I would not be surprised if this thread turned into Satellite Radio or Free Radio.

For me: normal radio. I hardly listen to it anyway, so I definitely don't need fancy satellite radio.

I'll stick with cds and hooking an MP3 player up to my stereo(I don't have a car, though, so not like it matters. Haha).

Ugh, a place I worked at played the same station on XM(I thnk XM)every day. It was only a week and a half long job, because it was at a fireworks store, but I went insane because this station played the same songs every day.

You are aware they merged right?
They haven't yet. They're need congressional approval. They're close, though. The only reason I don't support that merger is that Howard Stern might try what he did on Opie and Anthony when they were both working for Infinity.

Listen to Satelite Radio for 2 months. You will never go back to the stupidity of free radio.

I had to borrow my dad's truck and wow. First, DJs are morons on free radios. The few on XM are funny, intelligent, and straight to the point. Secondly, if you listen to just the Top 20 stations, yes, that's all you will hear, but I have heard songs I haven't heard in years. Plus, no commercials.

Plus, Satellite has been getting all of the greats. Bob Dylan, Oprah Winfrey, Opie and Anthony, Tom Petty, and now....Aqua Teen Hunger Force! They're gonna be broadcasting on the Boneyard, XM 41, Friday at 8 PM.

That is interesting, but still, I don't think it is worth it.

I listen to the classical music station 95% of the time I'm listening to the radio. They have no commercials either, because it's one of those public stations ("supported by members like you"). The DJs are pretty good, and they really know their stuff; they'll tell you how Hadyn wrote this musical piece for some king in Bolivia and how while he was there Hadyn was shagging the queen--seriously, it can be very funny and interesting. And I have never heard the same song twice on that station, after about 500 hours of listening.

Of course, I'm not like most people on Smashboards in my musical listening tastes. I think I could agree that for most people, XM would be much more enjoyable, and there's a good chance it would be worth the money. Just not for me, I suppose.

Well, I'm getting the XM Helix for Christmas, which I was told by Eric Logan, VP of XM, that it has such good signal, that it would only cut out in a subway terminal, where no mobile communications work.
