Xbox 360 Question

Alright, I was considering picking up an X360 sometime this year, not because I'm not happy with my current consoles, but because I love MMOs and PC's are becoming quite expensive.

I am completely happy with my PS3 and have no intention of selling it (just making sure none of that console wars fanboy crap enters this thread).

I want to buy an X360, but I have a grave fear that it will red ring on me...
Was it only the launch consoles which had such a great chance to fail?
Are the newer models less prone to break and worth the buy?

I own a launch console, have tipped it over 5 times, destroyed 2 Halo 3 discs by accident, destroyed 1 Halo 2 disc, destroyed my Oblivion disc, and destroyed NFSU2 (Xbox original) because of those tips. I have shaken it, flipped it, tossed it in the air and brought it to so many LANs that I can't even recount all of them.

Not once have I had a red ring or had to send it in. My discs all work again due to a disc repair machine at PNT.

:)

Also, I'm sure the newer ones are even less prone to breaking. Just be sure to buy a Premium or whatever the better version is nowadays.

Elite, yeah. They installed a new processor that is less likely to overheat in the newer models. I forget what it's called. Also they are supposed to be quieter. But if you buy it brand new, you should have the three year warranty even if it does die on you. You'll be fine~

The 360 got a new chip called the Falcon last summer which is smaller and runs cooler than the original chip. Just don't worry about it, you're worrying about something that probably isn't going to happen to you, and if it does, you've got a nice three year warranty so Microsoft will fix your console for free.
