Would you say a DJCUS is useful?

After looking into the existence of the DCUS (not DACUS) in Brawl and Smash 4 as well as the nature of cancelling the prejump lag, I've learned that the DCUS does exist in Melee, but in a more complicated form that I'll refer to as the Dash Jump Cancelled Up Smash, or DJCUS, since Brawl and Smash 4 reads the C-stick/Right Stick as a Tap+A input instead of its own thing.

I have yet to practice it, though (I was trying to see if I could do a Wavedash-into-Up Smash as a DCUS replacement for a while). Is it worth it?

I've started to main :foxmelee: for vMelee and for SD Remix will make him one of my mains alongside :dkmelee: and :mariomelee:, FYI.

We call this “JC usmash” or “JC upsmash” and yes, it is useful. Especially with Fox and Pikachu.

JC usmash is most commonly used out of shield or shine, although it can be used in other instances.

In melee you can also down-cancel a run into any smash (or grounded move) at any time during the run animation by simply pressing down. So you can run and instantly stop and fsmash by holding the c-stick in that direction during the run and pressing down.

This is also why you see a lot of melee vets accidentally dash attack when they are intending to down-cancel smash in PM, since the c-stick doesn't do anything in melee but dash attacks in PM.

Pressing down? You mean like crouching while running? (I forget if that's possible) Explain to me why this exists (since there is a simple explanation why the DCUS exists in Brawl).

Yeah. The explanation is simple. You can crouch while running (note: you can't crouch while dashing). You can use your grounded move set out of crouch. Getting into crouch takes only one frame.

And the dash attack with c-stick thing is the worst thing about pm

2 frames, actually. As soon as the dash / run input criterion isn’t met any longer, you go into RunBrake . As soon as you hold down, you transition to Squat . If your inputs are perfect, you spend only one frame in RunBrake and Squat each, for a total of two between Run and the run-cancel action.

100% agree. This is one of the few things that make me go “THIS GAME IS NOTHING LIKE MELEE, **** THIS ****”.
