I know this question or something similar has been asked before but, I've been thinking how awesome it would be for Capcom to have a smash brothers style game. Of course Capcom is known for making great fighting games but, they haven't dabbled too much into a party style fighting game. I think Onimusha Blade Warriors is probably the closest thing they have done. Now I'd like to actually see Capcom collaborate with Nintendo to make this game happen but, if thats not possible I see no reason why Capcom shouldn't try to make a game with their own spin of the king of the hill fighting style that we adore in Smash Brothers.

They could go the sony route and make a similar game but, I think Sony tried too hard to pretend that they weren't copying Nintendo and I think that hurt Playstation All Stars overall gameplay. It was nice that sony tried it but, it was inferior to Smash Brothers. If Capcom were to make a Smash game I think they should embrace being a Smash brothers rip off but, lets face it, most of the games we all play now ripped something off from another game. I would like to see Capcom make their game as close to Nintendo's gameplay as possible. I could deal with things to set them apart a bit though. Perhaps instead of a percentage, the characters would have a life bar and the lower the bar gets, the easier it would be to knock themboff the stage. Off course the items, stages, and characters would be unique as well. I have prepared a list of an ideal roster for this game based on game appearances, uniqueness, and overall popularity while at the same time throwing in a few oddball picks as we alk know Capcom likes to have in their fighting games.

1. Megaman

2. Zero - (Megaman X)

3. Roll - (Megaman Series)

4. Tron Bonne (Megaman Legends)

5. Samanosuke (Onimusha)

6. Ryu (Street Fighter)

7. Chun Li (Street Fighter)

8. Amaterasu (Okami)

9. Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil)

10. Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)

11. Viewtiful Joe

12. Morrigan (Darkstalkers)

13. Felicia (Darkstalkers)

14. Strider

15. Captain Commando

16. Arthur (Ghosts n' Goblins)

17. Dante (Devik May Cry)

18. Vergil (Devil May Cry)

19. Rad Spencer (Bionic Commando)

20. Phoenix Wright

21. Haggar (Final Fight)

22. Firebrand (Demon's Crest)

23. Regina (Dinocrisis)

24. Hayato (Star Gladiator)

25. Gene (God Hand)

26. Saki (Quiz Nanairo Dreams)

27. Zack (Zack & Wiki)

28. Frank West (Dead Rising)

29. Nillin (Remember Me)

30. Asura (Asura's Wrath)

31. Batsu (Rival Schools)

32. Rogue (Power Stone)

33. Tessa (Red Earth)

34. Ryu (Breath of Fire)

I was trying to make a somewhat realistic list without getting to out there. I think a Thirty-Four character roster is not unreasonable for a first entry in a series like this. I had more characters in mind like Crimson Viper, Protoman, Wesker, Nemesis T Type, Jedah, Yukimura, M. Bison, Trish, and more. I eventually settled with my final list. So what do you guys think? Would you want to play this game? Would you cut some characters from my list? Would you add any characters to my list? Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Have you heard of Marvel vs. Capcom?

I get that. But in a lot of ways, the Capcom Vs. series IS their answer to Smash Bros. It's a mashup, it's got mainstream appeal, and despite not having a mechanic like smashing the opponent off the screen, it's ridiculous in it's own way.

I think that series fills the niche which would make a Capcom Smash Bros unnecessary.

I love marvel vs capcom but, I just think it would be awesome for Capcom to test the waters on a new style of fighting game.

I'm so invested in the Smash Bros characters and their movesets that I probably wouldn't bother learning a new game, even if it used Smash's mechanics. Then again, if Megaman was the same...

Its actually surprisingly easy and intuitive to transfer your skill over if much of the mechanics are the same. I do it every so often with MMO PVP games, and if I locate a character like my main in WoW, I find it very easy to excel at the game, despite there being new "moves and abilities".

As for the question, heck yeah.

I kinda want a Square Enix Smash (or just get them in) that would be my dream.

Personally, I would like to see Capcom go back to a Power Stone or Power Stone-type game instead of something that's straight up Smash.

Power Stone 2 was my favorite Dreamcast game.

No wait, I lied. PSO was.

Maybe. Even if it is to only play as a Megaman who can charge up his megabuster, and then hold onto it by holding down the a button and still being able to run and jump around without firing it until I would like to.

Nah I only played Okami and Viewitful Joe Zero, strider, Arthur and Dante are ok characters and sure they be fun, but I don't care about Street Fighter and still think the Resident Evil fighters are out of place.

Really don't think Capcom wants Megaman and in a smash style game would just look bad now.

I wouldn't buy this game because I decided to boycott Capcom when they released ultimate MVC3 like 2 months after the first one came out, with its on disc dlc. That being said, this would be a cool idea if it ever got made. I would prefer it to be an MVC game, not just capcom characters though.

As cool as it would be, Capcom has been unable to make a good game since like Street Fighter 4. Every new game they release tops the last one in how bad it is. So no I wouldn't play it.

Yeah, if it's a good game I would. Capcom's not exactly at their best at the moment, so I can understand why some doubt them. Like @ Vashimus Vashimus mentioned, Nintendo vs Capcom would be preferable. That'd be a really great crossover to see one day.

But if they did a Capcom only crossover game, it should be in a similar style to their own fighters.

Well there's the various Vs Capcom games, however a fighting game with JUST a myriad of Capcom characters would be hella tight. I honestly think Capcom is one company with enough star characters to fill a roster for a game by itself, forget having half your game's roster shared with another company.
