Would you like it if there's a pay-to-unlock all customs in the Smash online shop?

Yeah, it's dickish and would represent Nintendo giving into one of modern gaming's most horrible trends.

But think about it: simply unlocking all custom moves for about $4 to $5 would alleviate a lot of the tension we've had in trying to make them legal. Tournament Organizers wouldn't have to go through all the trouble, and pure competitive players would easily train with it. I highly doubt a few bucks for every Wii U and 3DS is going to sink the entire competitive community.

And completionists wouldn't have to pay at all.

I’m really not a fan of the whole “let’s create a really crappy, inconvenient system which you have to pay to bypass when it shouldn’t be like that in the first place” thing I see too much. I guess having the option to do that would be better than nothing though.

Hell No! I rater waste my time then to pay real money for customs. I but new outfits or new customs but not pay for customs that are already in the game.

I spent my time for it on two consoles, but I'd rather it be an option so people would shut up and use customs.

I'd only be alright with them implementing it if they made the price cheap and didn't market it in a "Play to win" kinda way like many games with similar features do.

I feel like the custom obtaining should not have been randomized for characters but rather a reward for using them in single player modes in general and given to you based on the character you used. Clear Classic with Mario, get customs for Mario.

Would have been great incentive to make you want to play everyone. And incentive to do single player.

I think that would be a terrible idea. We do not need that kind of garbage in smash or any game for that matter. At that point the custom unlock system becomes a pay wall that forces people that don't have hours and hours time to unlock them to fork up real money. The current custom unlock system is a problem but paying for them with real money is not the answer. An in game shop similar to the trophy shop but for custom moves would be much better.

I'm down with it. I want a coin shop with specific customs (like the trophy shop) more, though.

Hell no. That's like if SEGA released an update for Sonic Boom that patches a bunch of bugs, but you'd have to shell out a buck for it. You don't patch up a broken machine with dollar bills.

I'd rather them just release a patch removing them as unlockables, or making them easier to unlock.

Something like "Complete Classic mode with Character X to unlock custom move set 1, and All Star for custom move set 2."

I hate RNG

It would be a bad idea. It's bad enough personally that Nintendo's resorting to putting out Mii Fighter costumes as paid DLC, just like how Ubisoft/EA puts out cosmetic DLC for $10, but Nintendo putting customs behind a pay-to-win wall would probably make things even worse.

If anything, customs should be paid for via the in-game currency racked up within Smash 3DS/U itself.

It'd be great for the people who would be willing to spend the money...I personally couldn't care less about customs as I pretty much play exclusively online.

I just thought... Why the hell didn't they make a custom move shop? You know, they have a trophy shop, which is kinda worthless except for completionists... Why not have a shop where there are 8-10 custom moves selected at random for you to buy like the trophy shop? Make them more expensive than the trophies obviously because they actually change the gameplay, but it'd make things that little bit easier and barable to have another method to get Custom moves. Infact while I'm at it, they should've done an equipment shop too. I mean you can sell equipment, why not be able to buy it? Same concept as the trohpy shop, easy peasy.

As for the topic itself... As long as it wasn't over priced. It's an extra option for those who might not have the time to grind for all the custom moves (I have a little girl who's nearly 2 I have to look after, as well as everything else in my life.). This would also make it easier to accomodate customs in competitive play. Hell, they could even split it up. They could have an option to unlock say all of Mario's move, we're talking pennies worth here. Then they could have a bundle and sell them all, which would be at a discounted price than buying them all seperately. That way you could either pay for what you want (You might only want to get them for certain characters, like your mains), or just do everything in one go. This in turn would also complete the challenge, a cherry on top for those who want to complete the game 100%.

You don't HAVE to buy it. It'd just be an option. I've seen games do it before in that style (IE : unlock all hidden characters or cheats straight away, stuff you can unlock in the game yourself), not in Capcom style, where you can't get the content yourself and have no access to it UNLESS you pay for it (I'm looking at you Capcom...). To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't make you pay for Megaman... I kid. ;3

If it was free, and just set up that way to basically make it an optional patch rather than a mandatory one.

This isn't like DLC characters, this is on-disk stuff, and anyone who has been paying attention to non-Nintendo games for the last decade knows how that's been received.

Ugh, no. That's way too close to on-disc DLC practices for me. I'd rather they just allow for alternate (surefire) ways to unlock them.

What's the point of paying real money for customs (which you should of have already unlocked) when you can powersave it or use the automatic way on wii u.

Sorry, it just sounds dumb :/

Someone already said this, but I would like an in-game shop where I could just select a character and buy a specific custom once per day.
To balance it the price would be raised the more customs you have for the character and the more you use the character.
So if you were putting hours into training have fun buying the last custom!

How much money per custom would that be, though?

If anything, an all-at-once deal would be the most ideal solution (if it's around 4-5 bucks like Mewtwo DLC is currently priced at).

I absolutely hate micro-transactions, so no. Pokémon Shuffle was plagued by it, and I don't want to see that in Smash.

Being able to buy customs through in-game coins would be a much better alternative, imo.

An in-game shop that used the Smash coins. They're burning a hole in everyone's pocket anyway

I guess that would be cool for people who can't be bothered to grind all the custom moves, they could sell all a single character's custom moves for like 30 cents and then bundle a bunch for a higher price. However I would just prefer they patch in a method to obtain then easier like a custom shop.

How much of a pain custom moves are to get in this games makes me wonder if Sakurai even wanted anybody to use them.

No.

I have no problems with microtransactions, but "pay to win" bull**** needs to stay out of gaming. It's as if people who design those systems don't even understand why people play games in the first place.

Unlocking customs isn't "winning the game". I would be down for any array of solutions to this problem including cheaply being able to unlock the custom moves through DLC or them making it easier by unlocking in game. Either way it's bummer that they aren't at all easy to get.
