Would like help/advice on getting into the competitive Smash scene.

I want to get into the competitive Smash scene, like participating in tournaments and such. I am pretty skilled at the game and win a lot in For Glory, but i know that tournaments are a drastically different story. I have no idea where to start, so i will take any general advice/tips, and any help is appreciated. I use the 3ds/Gamepad as a controller. Thanks!
