Worst characters?

The game is pretty balanced other than some characters being clearly better than others.

In my opinion, toon link is by far the worst, and is followed by lucario. Diddy Kong isn't terrible but seems strictly mid tier. I liked him better in 2.5.

What characters need to be buffed the most to be viable?

But Toon Link is not the worst character. That is an understood fact.

Lucario is definitely not bad. He is VERY capable of some crazy things that you wouldn't expect to see. You might not see him often, but he definitely has a good amount of power to him.

Realistically though, most of the current cast is pretty damn solid. The ones that seem to be a little weak at the moment, for one reason or another, seem to be some combination of Squirtle and Sonic. Zelda doesn't seem so good, but that is mostly due to her linear style of play, though she is usually considered very obnoxious to fight. Toon Link honestly doesn't seem very strong either, even if the player knows how to magic his bomb recovery.

Even though they have their weak points, these characters are still not too far under the rest, overall strength-wise. But, of course, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Fox is by far the worst character now. That almost imperceptible nerf to his shine has completely destroyed the game and it is a super bad game now and I want my money back.
