World Wide Wi-fi a mistake?

Just think about it.

It's great to be able to play with no restriction with anyone in the world, yay!
But wouldn't it be better if it featured territory restriction just like Mario Strikers Charged?

I mean, imagine yourself playing With Anyone, everything is going great... But then this guy from Europe enters the game and starts lagging a lot because he is sooo far away.

That would completely destroy the smooth feeling that Smash Bros has. That is the main reason why Mario Strikers Charged has territory restriction, to avoid so much lag. I think it would be better if Brawl has the same system(restrictions With Anyone, but world wide With Friend)

And the lag must actually be pretty bad if Sakurai even apologized for it...

But because this form of communication is greatly affected by the distance between you and your opponent, your brawls may not run smoothly if you’re really far apart—like, for instance, if you’re connecting between Japan and America.

The more distant you are, the worse your connection becomes, and the slower it feels. I apologize, but I hope you understand.
And that's about it... Discuss =P

Right behind you. seriously!
it may be a mistake, but remember, sakurai hasn't revealed all the online brawl can do. he may have put in a feature that lets you choose whether you want to stay in your region or go worldwide. then if it lags because of distance, its their fault for wanting to play people from different continents.

Am I the only one that realizes that Sakurai never said that With Anyone would be worldwide?
Remember, in Strikers, Friend Matches were worldwide, meaning you could have a Japan-America connection.

No. I highly doubt I'll be able to find anyone from my region, gaming is dead here. Although, it was never alive.

It'll be nice to have people to play against instead of level 1- 9 AI

I am positive that they are gonna have region setting under the "play anyone" button.

yeah i dont think lag will be a huge issue because it will most likley be minimal and if the conection is bad in the first place then u should just search for another match. also all the capibilities of online are yet to be revealed so sit tight maybe theres a trading stickers or trophies mode. and to get a certain trophey thats only available in japan u must trade for it with sumone from there. there are still many possibilites

If that's the case then he didn't say that With Friends would be online either...

Read Sakurai's post again, in the beginning he is talking about both methods, then he actually separate them.
