Wobbling?

Why is wobbling legal? I literally don't understand it's unfair and there is no counter play (you cant mash out of it). It's also super scrubby why does something with no counter play have a place in tournament, personally i don't think it should be. What are you opinions?

Don't get grabbed with Nana standing next to Popo. It's a really simple idea. All you have to do is keep them separated. Even with Wobbling, Ice Climbers aren't #1. It's not a problem

Yeah who wants guaranteed things.
Let's ban chaingrabs/tech chases on reaction/following di too. In fact I think it's only fair if character's should drop their combo after 2 hits cause combos don't offer a lot of counter play.

(on a more serious note I dislike how relatively easy wobbling is for the sake of it ruining amateur bracket but generally speaking purely relying on wobbles doesn't get you much further than that)

This is kind of a forbidden topic among the old mods not to sure how the new mods handle it. It's just been beaten to death by newbies for like 7 years and really no one cares, all the top players think it should be legal. You know why? Cause Ice Climbers are still free. Especially if you use Peach or Fox,Falco, Marth and even lower tiers like Samus, Ganon, and the Links.

Now I will say it's boring when an IC wobbles some noob all 4 stocks. At that point I would rather watch Brawl while listening to Friday by Rebecca Black.

But watch Mang0 absolutely destroy the best ICs player Fly Aminita twice.....consecutively. This is a reoccurring theme when you know the MU and can do 2 simple things 1) Keep Nana's very dumb predictable AI separated 2) Don't get grabbed by their terrible grab range

I agree, I'm tired of seeing Ice Climbers winning every big tournament. IC players have such a huge advantage over every other character anyone who uses them really should really just go to Brawl and play Meta Knight ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Real though I feel like people see Nintendude wobble a few times at Xanadu then immediately start complaining on smashboards, reddit, twitter, etc. Chill yall IC players got a level (3?) CPU as a teammate give them a break

Ideally, it should be banned, but it's more practical given the state of smash atm to have it be legal. Wisconsin was recently getting pressured to legalize wobbling in their tournaments, and it was the right idea because banning wobbling made Wisconsin players kinda suck against Ice Climbers out-of-state.

I don't think "IC's don't win" is a good argument against banning it. Project M nerfed Ness in 3.5 despite Ness not "winning every big tournament" in 3.02. Something doesn't have to be dominant to still be stupid and bad for the metagame.

I never thought about his regulating wobble is near impossible. It's a strong argument. (not that I thought wobbling needed banning outside of amateur bracket before reading it)

Well IC are still free for all the top players, but for the rest of us mortals, that's another story.
I wouldn't "vote" to ban wobbling (or any technique whatsoever) beccause not allowing another player to use he's learned and that is part of his gameplay would make me feel pretty ****ty.
But when my friend gets salty and picks IC and wobbles 3-4 stocks away from me, well that's just the worst feeling you can ever have in melee (and in life in general if you ask me). I swear it's the one thing that makes me just put the controller down in resignation and ragequit. I know it's on my part to get better to separate them/not getting shieldgrabbed, but even practicing the IC MU, fully prepared to have my stocks erased on one grab, that **** makes my frustration level rise over 9000.

And about press start, sure Fly got rolled over by Mang0, but he still made GF on winners side, so I wouldn't call that free.
Oh and ask west if IC are free lol.

I've seen m2k's Peach vs IC's... So yeah watch any of these if you haven't, it's just hilarious how he uses basically ONLY f-air the whole SET (!)

Yea fair and even bair float cancelled into Dsmash AKA The Blender absolutely destroy ICs. They have no real answer to it, very often it splits them up for easy follow ups on either (Nana doesn't shield fast enough, plus the move naturally shield pokes). And Peach's edge guarding on both or SoPo is so guaranteed and near impossible to mess up.

Wobbling is easy to pull off, but it is also very easy to screw up if you don't have the pattern down.
It's easy to avoid, so I don't see a reason for it being banned.
It's also a shame because IC's have some great grab combos but they are made obsolete by the wobble, I personally wish it wasn't in the game but I don't think it's bad enough to be ban-worthy.

It's just a part of the game man. Fox can literally kill anyone off stage at 0% you don't see people complaining about that. All you have to do is keep them separated. Ice climbers definitely aren't as dominant as they once were because people learned how to counter play them.

They need all the help they can get.

But in reality, just kick Nana's **** into the bottom blast line and then deal with Popo.

I don't think it should be banned at all. It's very frustrating and annoying, but I don't think it should be illegal. As Epsilon said, I don't think that it should be banned because the way you play against ice climbers is to separate Nana and Popo. You have to play a different playstyle against them in order to not get wobbled.
