Hey, If this is in the wrong spot please tell me and I can see if its movable :o

There is this tournament at a local library near me of Smash 4(Wii U) Now, I have never actually played SSB4 and I dont even own a Wii U. But I love playing PM and Melee! But I am signed up for this tournament and I just wanted to know, what would be the best game to practice on (Besides SSB4) that would increase my skill in Smash 4? Like, in comparison which games would be closer to Smash 4? Brawl or PM? And with the changes in gameplay, what would be the best mechanics to practice anyway?(No wavedashes and such)

I play a ton of Captain Falcon, and I plan to continue to do so even with the weakened knees! So any basic mechanics I need to learn or atleast recognize when im ingame would be nice too!

Thank You!

Honestly no smash game would be great for practice for smash 4 tournament other than smash 4. All smash games are different in terms of gameplay and physics. You may only practice the basics, but you won't be able to practice combos and techniques smash 4 has to offer. Even for basics would still be hard to practice mostly because the flows from all games are different as well. Brawl is too slow and floaty while melee/project m is too fast. smash 64 may be the closest but you still won't be able to do smash 4's techniques and no air dodging in the 64.
Smash 4 on 3ds is pretty much identical to wii u when it comes to physics, combos, techniques, gameplay, flow, ect... if you have a 3ds, you may want to pick it up. If you don't have a 3ds well... no other game can really be good for practice especially if you're taking on a tournament level of skill.

Good luck in the tournament though.

Personally, I think Brawl is pretty similar.

Having said that, the best thing to do would be to read up on the Captain Falcon character discussion forum to learn some basic strategy. Then play some friendlies at the tourney to practice them a bit and hope for the best!

I think brawl is similar as well. But keep in mind the ledge mechanic in this game is totally different from the past smash bros. Took me a lot to learn that. So I recommend you keep that in mind.
