Hey, you're right this is a very important topic. More than 4 controllers shouldn't be on at one time for one console, if the 4 controllers interfere with each other, then that might be a problem.

I'm not sure if any other consoles with controllers that are on in a close range could mess up it's responsiveness, but I haven't heard of anything like that until now. I guess we'll see what happens.

This needs to be investigated if people are planning on having tournaments and this is an issue.

Only having wireless controllers is going to be a major issue for a tournament.
News Flash: SSB4 is only on the Wii U and the 3DS, which only uses wireless controllers.

Yes, It can potentially be an issue. There was a thread a few months back that discussed this topic. No real solutions from the actual gaming crowd other than a suggestion for Nintendo to add support for a wired controller or have an extremely strict schedule when pairing players for matches.

Its too costly and risky for Tournament Organizers (TOs) to provide all of the controllers and just have them constantly synced. This would alleviate pairings to the wrong systems, but would not help with the interference. Typically Bluetooth has a range of 30ft, which given most tournament sized rooms, this would encompass all of the systems. Bluetooth Basics

If there were a way to "turn down" the distance of the Bluetooth range, say to 3 ft, I believe that would solve a myriad of problems, but it is doubtful.

And people wonder why I still like corded controllers. Batteries are for chumps.

News flash: No **** Sherlock.

That being said for 3DS people can be expected to have their own and match up on their own.

WiiU is the real problem, there are 5 possible controller types for the game, even more if you wanna get into adapters. Multiple consoles as well as people not playing who may accidentally hit a button (there's no way to take the batteries out of a pro controller). If someone syncs in as player 3 or 4 mid match, that's fine it affects nothing so long as they don't hit power, home or (depending on how the game works) start.

The bigger issue is how much longer it's going to take when players switch out.

Its not the first time I've been called Sherlock. ;) I just found it funny that you didn't contribute anything to the actual topic of the thread with your first post, other than reiterating what the OP said.
There's only 3 different controllers that would actually connect anyways, regardless of how many "controller types", but that is besides the point.

People really shouldn't be syncing to a game that is mid-match, unless someone is hitting the sync button on the console during the match. Unless the remotes are already paired with that system, the console will not arbitrarily add them in mid-match.

You can actually take the battery out of the Wii U Pro controller, but it is extremely cumbersome. However, if we were to come up with a way to install a on/off switch on the controller itself, it could make it easier to pair and unpair controllers. Also, the Wii U has a controller menu where you can force disconnects of controllers. This could be done at the end of a match between two players to ensure that their controllers are no longer synced.

I don't see the bit in the first post I "copied" from but whatever. Bottom line is at best it's a pain in the ass at worst it won't work out.
