Masahiro Sakurai has said one way he is making Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and for Wii U have different experiences by each having their own collection of stages. The Nintendo 3DS version will have stages based of handheld games while the Wii U version will have stages based of home console games. Of all the confirmed stages so far, all of this is true. But I problem I see is that some franchises have barely or even zero history on either the home console or handhelds. Does this mean some franchises won't have any stages on certain stages? So I made of list of franchises that have had playable characters in current and past Super Smash Bros. games and put down their possible statuses on the handheld and home console.

Here's a guide:
White = A possible game or two to make a stage from. Please note that there are purely my possibilities so feel free to make your own.
Green = A stage for that system has been confirmed
Red = Could be in danger of not having a stage.

Eh, I think the differing stages based on what games have been on which system only applies to franchises that have been on both. I seriously doubt they are going to go crazy with this.

I'm not all that worried either, I'm just curious what everyone else thinks of it. But yeah, I too doubt Sakurai will go crazy on this. If a franchise doesn't get a stage on one system then so be it.

I'm slightly worried about this, to be honest. Particularly newcomer franchises like Golden Sun and Wii Fit.

Considering that Pikmin, Ice Climbers, G&W, Gyromite and Wii Fit are most likely only getting one rep I don't think it's too bad that they might lose out on the 3DS. Everyone else seems to be ready to go from there, it actually looks better for all franchises than I expected it to.

There's also stages that don't have a character rep.. For instance, the confirmed Nintendogs stage that will probably be 3DS exclusive. I don't really have anything to say on the subject, I just want to remind people that they exist.

You guys are putting way more concern into this issue than is warranted.

At 1:27, Sakurai states that there will be more stages based on hand-held games, while the Wii U version will have more stages based on console games. The stage list is not strictly mutually exclusive. It sounds like there will be more stages shared between the two versions than Battlefield and Final Destination.

Stages on certain stages?Mege Man?hehe.

I'm not really concerned,I'd be good just to know a series is represented somewhere in Smash. Also because I plan to get both versions.

Rewatching the trailer, I can see that the Nintendog in the stage isn't the same one from Brawl (who was chosen as representative for Nintendogs because his breed is popular). I'm probabily looking at this too much but just maybe this could either mean the Brawl!Nintendog could reappear as a Assist Trophy once again. OR BE PLAYABLE!!!:troll:

I'm not talking about 3DS excusively but anything that's a handheld (and a Game & Watch is a handheld). But there hasn't been a Game & Watch game on the 3DS yet (excluding DS backwards compatibility and Virtual Console)
