Will Project M work on Wii U and will it keep my unlocked stuff?

Hi, I was thinking of downloading Project M, and I was wondering if I could use a Wii U to run the game, or if I need an original Wii to run the game. Also, I was wondering if I install Project M, if it'll keep all the stuff I unlocked in Brawl like characters, stages, trophies, events, stickers, etc.
