Will playable characters be assist trophies as well?

EDIT: never mind: I did some research and it won't be happening.

Something I had thought about a while back...

Why couldn't you crack open an assist trophy and, say, DK pops out and pounds the ground or performs a weaker version of his final smash?

Or maybe C. Falcon comes out and falcon kicks back and forth across the stage a few times?

I'm not creating this thread to somehow REconfirm assist trophy characters, but why couldn't playable characters also show up as assist trophies? If no one is playing as that particular character at the time, what's the harm in having them show up and assist?

You have to figure that they already have the character model, moves, etc. done, so why not add them to the list of potentials?

Maybe they'd even show up as lower level bot which would need to be KOed to get rid of it...

It's possible, nothing seems to hint either way so we can't rule out the idea. I, personally, don't see it happening in Brawl, but it would make things interesting so I do like the idea.

No, why the hell would that happen? That defeats the purpose of why the assist trophies were created.

Of course it could be possible, but it ain't happening in Brawl

Why would it NOT happen?

As you remember, there are trophies of all the playable characters as well so I fail to see why AT status would be relegated to secondary characters who were passed up for playable status.

The more ATs the better so why not have the playable characters as a possibility for an AT as well?

Because that defeats the purpost of the creation of Assisst trophies so that characters that could not make it as PC could interact still on the battle field...Plus how the hell would DK, for example, summon DK...that would be stupid to summon yourself against your opponent.

You are one of the most un-kind people on the boards. First off on another thread you made fun of my spelling and grammer when you spelled purpose wrong, and your whole post is a run-on sentence. Also DK could summon himself, after all in melee you could have DK vs DK vs DK they were just diffrent colors.

When have I ever made fun of your spelling and grammar?

Also, your only reading part of what I put

AT status doesn't equate a halfway house for battered and forgotten characters, it's a way of bringing another character into the battle to perform a move or two because having only Pokeballs to this end is boring.

Let's look at this from true logic. I'll be using the "If A = B then B = A" property (I forget what it's called) for this.

With this we know that a PC cannot be an AT without an AT being a PC. Since AT's were confirmed NPCs (not once, not twice, but THRICE) in the "What are Assist Trophies?" update, we know the "an AT being a PC" part of the statement at the start of this paragraph is disconfirmed (proven to be impossible; and yes, that's how you're supposed to say it). Since a PC being an AT would violate this impossibility (if A = B then B = A), it too is disconfirmed.

No, This is Stupid, Psycho is right.
He and you and anyone can think it's stupid all you want. That doesn't mean I'll acknowledge your opinion unless you back it up with a solid argument, but you can sit there with your arms crossed, muttering angrily to yourself all you like.

It's the certainty of what will and won't be in Brawl which I'm calling out.

Anything on screen not being controlled by a player is, by definition, an NPC.

An assist trophy is a character on screen not being controlled by a player. A character who appears on the character select screen who happens to come out of an AT is still an NPC.

I have to agree with the people who are saying that Playable characters will not be assists.
Not only would it be strange to have a playable character pop out of a capsule at random to dominate the stage, but it would also contradict Sakurai's statement that the assist trophies were meant purely as a means of including characters who did not quite make it as a playable character.

Know what?

Never mind: I did some research myself...

"Basically, they’re guest characters separate from Smash’s playable roster!"

That rules it out.
