-I apologize if this should be in the SSB3DS competitive discussion sub-forum

I'm really excited to see if online tournaments for Smash 4 will have alot of attention, since it will be a great way for people who can't always make it to venues to play with other skilled players. A large concern is these brackets being very annoying to organize and establish a time when everyone can play.

Though in my opinion it's inevitable people will participate in online tourneys this time around because it seems the netcode is 50x better than Brawl's.

Thoughts?

They were around for brawl despite it's netcode they should increase if it is playable for most people but they won't be a huge thing.

I really really hope so, I want the online play to thrive. when the Wii U version comes out, then we'll know if it would thrive or not.

There will certainly be tournaments, but I doubt that any but a few throughout its lifespan will be taken extremely seriously. What I mean by this is that I highly doubt money will be involved at all with these tournaments.

They'll be there, and they'll be for fun.

Hopefully there will be tons of online tournaments, but without money and serious stuff involved, since it only serves to ruin the fun imo.

I'll definitely be entering in as many online tournaments as possible. I doubt online tournaments will get as big as something like EVO though. It would be hard to record or stream every match in one, I think.

I wouldnt mind *the money and stuff* it would serve up some more legitimacy to the competitiveness of this game.

It's a bit trickier to verify results and distribute winnings in an online tournament. Not that it can't or shouldn't be done, it's just harder.

I think they'll be more of a casual thing. All of the true competitive tournaments will still be on a single Wii U console with GC Controllers, but for fun, people will probably hold worldwide tournaments online for people to join and maybe make a name for themselves. It's a good idea that I hope comes to fruition.

I'm going to be having an online tourney at PortablePlatypus.com shortly after release with a small prize for first-place and I hope to have them somewhat regularly should it prove to be a success.

It would be nice, but I doubt it. People don't want money on the line with a online game like Smash Bros, which runs better then brawl but it isn't perfect.
