Will Mewtwo's model ever be fixed?

Don't get me wrong, they did a great job for creating him from scratch, but he has some pretty big issues that make him look really strange.

For one, he has funky lighting. He has this rim lighting effect that makes him look really strange. Secondly, his eye is way too big. Thirdly, his proportions are wonky. This is especially noticeable when comparing him to his current official art.

I'm glad Mewtwo is in this game... and that he's good in it. But I think he could use an update to look more like Mewtwo.

Sorry if I sounded harsh. I don't mean to undermine the huge number of hours that went into making Mewtwo. It's just that when you look at images and compare them, the problems become apparent. This picture is a good example of the weird lighting and eye problem Mewtwo has:

Here is a picture of Mewtwo's weird proportions:

Now here's a picture of what Mewtwo ACTUALLY looks like now:

If you'll notice, there are several differences. Most notably, Mewtwo's head is less oversized, it's more like a smaller circle. His eye is much smaller. He is shaped more like a human. The curve on his stomach where his tail is connected is much sharper. I know what you're thinking -- this is just Mewtwo's latest incarnation, it doesn't reflect his appearance for the past 10 years. But it does. Here is his official art:

In fact, Mewtwo in Smash up until now has always been off-model:

So perhaps the Project M team can fix him? I would just like to know if this can ever happen or not. I only ask because I'm a big Mewtwo fan and I'd like to see him done justice.

Mewtwo's model is based heavily on his Melee model. It is extremely accurate in that endeavor.
The rim lighting is an intentional aesthetic affect added to him. You'll notice he glows blue whenever doing a Psychic action such as hovering, doing Confusion, or most of his throws.

Yes, it is based on his Melee model, but even ignoring the fact that his Melee model was off-model, there are still errors between the two. If you'll notice, the eye and head shape between Melee Mewtwo and PM Mewtwo are different, which makes its attempt to look like Melee Mewtwo jarring:

Simply put, it doesn't really look like Mewtwo. Not to mention, Mewtwo hasn't looked like his Melee incarnation in a decade. No, even more than that, if we factor in his first anime appearance. With Sakurai moving forward updating his look to reflect what he actually looks like, I just feel like the PM Mewtwo is going to look awkward and dated. It already does.

If you want to keep the weird rim lighting... I guess I can't argue with that. But at least fix his model, c'mon.

You do realize he's fictional right?

He looks fine to me, in fact the only example that you've shown that looks noticeably off-model is the one from the old anime with the tiny head and broader shoulders.

There is an alternative if you want his absolute most accurate proportions.

However...

A lot of the animations would need to be redone so he doesn't look so...awkward in some positions

yet, for the most part, fine in others.

Just be happy with what we have, dude.

No, he wasn't made from scratch, he was cloned from Mew. DUHHHH

But really though he looks fine, for a custom character they did pretty good. The eyes may look off, but thats why I put him in armor.

I disagree with OP. I think his model is great. The big hips look too goofy.
