In melee slightly holding the L/R will trigger a shield.
In brawl you must snap completely down to trigger the shield.
In Smash 4 ....?

Doubt it since Brawl lacked this feature as well

Plus, out of the 7 compatible controllers Smash Wii U has, only 2 controllers have analog input (GameCube controller & original Classic Controller).

I remember reading on another thread that the game doesn't have light shielding, but compared to Brawl you *can* do a light press on the shoulder button to trigger the shield instead of mashing it all the way down.
Can you link to this?

I've been asking on this forum for months and no one has been able to give me a definitive answer on this......

I swear I saw it on Smashboards but I can't seem to find it now searching the Smash Bros Wii U forum. Starting to wonder if it was on a different forum before they separated the Wii U/3DS versions. I'll keep looking but it was from someone that had hands on time with the game at E3 or a similar event.
I truly appreciate you searching. Thank you so much for trying.

Even yahoo answers can't get this one:

I've already preordered the bundle as I'll need it to play 5+ player SSB anyway but I'm just REALLY curious if they fixed it...

Lying about my country.
I believe the reason they cut that from Brawl was because half the controller options didn't have analog shoulder buttons.

For Wii U, there's even more control options without that feature, so I doubt it'll return.

Right, and I just want to know if we have to squeeze all the way into the digital click once again.

I'd prefer it so that any subtle tap of the shoulder trigger causes the shield to come up and the lack of that in Brawl is what actually pushed me into using mote+chuck (which worked out quite well, once I had grown used to it).

I kind of imagine since Nintendo showed off the game at E3 and at other promotional events with Gamecube controllers that they would have paid attention to this feature, but that's just my opinion.

I am pretty sure they have an ADC on the adapter to streamline the bridge if the Wii U is expecting a digital input from the controller.
