Wii VC Release

I know that this is an iconic game and the basic foundation for this site as well. So why hasen't Nintendo released this on the Wii's Virtual Console? Better yet why don't they release it on the Wii Ware Channel? From what I head Nintendo has had the Wii Ware option able to play online independent games. So my point is wouldn't it be nice if they could
re-release SSB64 with online play?

Old? Hardly. Also there's tons of people that still play this game.

Anyway I'm thinking that the VC version will be available when Brawl comes out.
