and before everyone complains about why they shouldn't have to adapt to newer changes with systems, and continue to demand someone caters to their every need, you should remember that you are praising a 2 generation old controller that wasn't even that great to begin with. First off, I have to agree that it is time to move on.

However, this is not the method to go about this. For a lot of people here, the GameCube controller DEFINED Smash Bros gameplay.

To them, it would be like asking an SSF4AE2012 player or a UMVC3 player to not use a fight stick.

Try to be a little more sensitive about this.

Here's a question for you:

What controller can you use to play ALL the Smash games we have currently?

The answer? GameCube controller.

Melee uses it, Brawl allowed it as an option, and Smash Bros 64 can be played on the Virtual Console with the GCN controller.

It's what people have been used to since 2001. It's understandable that changing is hard, but you can't hold it against them for it.

I used to have the attitude of "get used to it".
But I mean what's wrong with lettin people play how they want?
A GC controller aint so different from a fight stick.
Anyway I've been playing with the classic controller and wiimote/nunchuck for so long now that I'm proficient with each of them along with the gamecube controller. (and by proficient I mean that I can wavedash in project m with a wiimote 90% of the time)
But seriously anyone who thinks that those sexy pressure sensitive gamecube controller triggers are suitable for a fighting game are nuts, move the shield to X or sumthin.

I love the GCN controller but I can adapt to the pro controller. However, if an option for the GCN controller becomes available I'm gonna be all on that.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't we have both options to choose from? The more controller options, the better

Its all about adaptivity guys, all smash players should be as good on any controller. I've gone to a PM tourney using the wiimote and won

But really though. The only issue I see with changing controllers is muscle memory issues. Things like air attacks with the c stick will be different. I'm pretty fluent in Gamecube and Classic controllers. To me the classic controller wasn't too bad. The Pro controller seems like a step up to me other than the second stick's placing.

What I wanted from this thread was to get people to stop posting GameCube controller threads everyday.

Different controllers help separate the games.
If you are constantly needing a GameCube controller to play, then you are constantly in the Melee mindset.
No other instalment will meet your expectations because you will continue to want to perform techniques that you can only do in Melee.
The GameCube controller has muscle memory akin to Melee, same goes for the 64 controller and the Wii Remote + Nunchuck.
Having a new controller separates the games and emphasizing that this is a completely different game and it cannot be played the way I am used to playing.

Didn't mean to offend this website, when clearly Melee and GameCube controllers are the favourites.

Just saying there will be a time 15 years from now when people are making threads petitioning for Nintendo to make some kind of adaptor for the GameCube controller so they can play the newest Smash game on the new Wii U Mii
