Smash Wii U Wii U Gamepad Connection Unstable

When I'm playing Smash Wii U, sometimes the connection to the Gamepad will lag or become disconnected. This has only started happening to me recently, and it's very annoying when I'm in the middle of the match and I don't have control of my character anymore. For reference, I only sit a few feet away from my Wii U, so I'm not far away from it at all, does anyone know why the connection has suddenly become bad?

First of all, let me say that I, too, use the Gamepad as my primary controller. Not many do, but I can't afford to buy another controller just for Smash.

Anyway, I don't know about your situation, but here are some things to look at.
Are there any solid objects between the Gamepad and the Wii U?
Is there anything in the same room that could be causing interference? I personally haven't had this issue, but I have experienced a similar problem. We have an internet repeater in our kitchen, and it gets messed up every time we use the microwave.
Other than that, there may be a physical issue with the Gamepad or the Wii U.

There are no solid objects in between the Gamepad and Wii U. The only thing I can think of that might be interfering with the wireless connection would be the router I have in the same room, but I've had both the Wii U and the router in the same room for over a year now and only started having problems yesterday. Leads me to believe it might be a physical issue with the Gamepad.
