Smash Wii U Wii U Gamepad Conflict

I live in a dorm where the Wi-fi disrupts the connection with the gamepad to the Wii U console. Some games like Mario Kart will allow me to start the game with the game pad then allow it to disconnect, so that I may play with Wii motes (with gamecube adapters) With the gamepad completely off. Games like Pikmin 3 will not allow the game to continue playing if the gamepad disconnects. Does anyone know anything about the way Smash 4 will work, or better yet does anybody have any fixes?

I highly doubt Smash 4 will require the Gamepad.

The GamePad will more than likely be required for making custom stages. Other than that, you don't have to use it to play.

From what could be seen in the last Direct, this seems to be the case. Unless you're planning on making a stage, then you're free to use whatever you want.
