This topic would probably be best run in the Tournament Discussion thread, I understand. However seeing as this is the most popular subsection for the latest Smash, more people would be likely to see this. If this has to be moved, I'll understand too. To the topic at hand...!
For those taking Wii U set-ups to their local tournaments or bigger, I'd just like to remind everyone that operating your console with the Gamepad is optional. I was initially worried about the console locking up until the assigned Gamepad was in range, but it's been tested that even when the Gamepad itself dies (be it battery or just not functioning anymore) that you can turn on and fully operate the console with either a Wii Remote/Classic Controller/Pro Controller.
Unless you plan on playing using the Gamepad as your controller choice (if said tourneys allow it), it's one less thing to bring so it doesn't take up a port for charging. I'm not sure just how common-knowledge this is for people, but I know some people were wondering about this as well.
