Wii problem

So my wii finally is suffering from the brawl disc syndrome. THis is when your wii refuses to read any disc you put it and gives you the "failed to read disc " screen. This is caused due to the brawl disc.

I have heard that is can easily be fixed by buying a cleaning dvd/cd for your wii from your local eb games. Or by sending in the wii to nintendo.

I dont want to send it into nintendo, cuz i want to play more. SO can anyone really confirm if cleaning the lens will fix my problem?

I hav no absolute confirmation that a cleaning disc will work, but Wiis pretty much use DVD drives, and can even read DVD's with certain software, so I'm pretty positive that a cleaning DVD would fix any lens problems. If it doesn't have to do with the lens, and more like how the Wii reads discs that aren't Brawl, then I don't know.
