Wii, is it ssbm compatible?

Im about to buy a Wii, but can I use ssbm on it? If so, can I only use a certain controller?

the wii can play all gc games, you can use the gc controller by flipping the cover on the top of the wii, you can also use the memory card, which u put in a slot also on top of the wii

Of course you can play Melee on a Wii. You can, as Mky762 mentioned, play any GC-games on the Wii, as long as they're from the same region as your Wii, of course.
