Why there needs to be a 1-1 mode in For Fun

I'm not really good at making topics like these, but i'll try my best.

Anyway, on For Glory mode. There is a 1-1 mode where there are two players who fight it out on an Omega Stage and try to win.

It is most likely that Sakurai intended this mode for competitive players. (Most likely, it's not exactly confirmed to my knowledge, but it's safe to assume) This mode is heavily used by players who are part of the competitive community, and is used for practice and, well, for glory.

There is one issue with this mode when it comes to being in one of the With Anyone modes. And that's casual players. I'm not saying casual players are bad, but they are part of this problem.

Casual players going on 1-1 on For Glory can promote issues. One, they waste competitive players times. Two, competitive, pros, and experts can farm them to raise there win rates for bragging rights, or by proving that they are "above everyone else". Three, they can be frustrating to win against since some casual players spam roll (which is OP with the online lag) when they are losing.

There are a few points on to why having this mode in For Fun is not a good idea, but I will try to disprove them.

Omega Stages aren't allowed in For Fun
The stages in For Fun are stages without their Omega forms. It is most obvious that if 1-1 mode in For Fun actually happens, it would use stages in their normal form.

What about items?
For Fun has the items turned on. It would most likely that the 1-1 For Fun would have items on.

Casual players don't like to play 1v1

This is simply not true. There is even evidence for this.

I even know a few casual players that prefer 1v1 than a 4-player Smash battle.

That's all I have to say for now. If there is any errors that you would like to point out, feel free to tell me.

I'd like a 1v1 in For Fun as well. I don't think it will happen retroactively in Smash 4, but if this gets the ball rolling for the next one you can put me down as a "Yes Please".

Thinking about it, I'm sure the reason 1v1 in For Fun isn't there is because most of the time a 1v1 with items is between friends and so the With Friends section would cover most of those needs. A For Fun 1v1 would be a nice alternative for those who's friends are unavailable though.

imo there never was an excuse for no 1v1 in for fun, another thing that really needs to be added is a regional setting.

Really hoping for a patch that adds FF 1v1, it isn't likely but i can still hope for it.

Or for those who don't have friends at all...

P.S. For some reason, I can't post or edit my replies from Firefox now, Chrome works atleast.

All of my yes. I imagine a FF 1v1 would work off stocks too, just like FG 1v1, which would make a nice change to only playing FF timed.

I mean, I'm someone who actually prefers 1v1s with items and varied stages. Probably on account of that's how I'm used to playing when it comes to actually playing the game for fun (Because of how me and my friends play.), as opposed to playing in FG (Because I can't stand free-for-alls with items, and team matches online make me want to peel my eyelids off with a tuning fork.).

I'd call myself a good player who can hold his own in FG, but I'm definately still a casual - I like random stages and random item drops, but I can't stand that Nintendo just straight up imagined that "for fun" means not having a singular target to focus on. What the hell, Nintendo?
In the meantime, I guess I'll just stick to "for habit" mode for my fix of 1v1s.

1v1 for fun would be the best for casual players. I'm a hardcore for glory player and i see a lot of casual layers who would be better off in a 1v1 for fun that for glory.I'm not saying its a bad thing but it would let casual players play online how they want if 1v1 is their favorite and they don't play competitively

Also, some competitive players like playing casually every now and then.

I think more modes in general would be nice - like monthly playlists of different game modes in both for fun/for glory.

I think that 1v1 in for fun would lead to certain "more experienced" players heading into that mode to run train on casuals. Of course there will be items on to throw them off, but you always have those people that seem to enjoy absolutely destroying someone more than an actual challenge.

1v1 with items on would be fabulous. It would cut down the lag drastically in for fun modes.

I would love this. I would also love if they had 1v1 with no items but we actually got real stages. I ABSOLUTELY DESPISE 3 maps though. PALUTENA'S TEMPLE is way too big, that one map that is ginormous and has the lava pits is horrible, and that HUGE DK arcade stage is absolutely dreadful

Point one I agree with. Bad players can be boring on FG 1v1.

Two I disagree with. win/lose ratio is not a good measure for skill and probably never will be. It cannot be ruined since it has no value to start with. Anyone taking win/lose ratio seriously as a measure for skill is a moron.

Three I disagree with too. Frankly I own roll spammers with ease. Roll spammers are predictable, so use that against them.
