That's just a vocal minority expressing they're unfortunate opinions and hateful slander, making it sound like most of the Smash fan base feels this way when in reality the majority are much more logical and level headed than that. Best to just ignore such individuals. As for why it happens? Well, some gamers are never satisfied, no matter how much you give them. And if they're favourite character isn't in the game, they treat that as a personal attack and get super defensive, then attack Sakurai and all those who disagree with them. They are sad, petty individuals who need to grow up and move on cause if you expect everything, you'll be sorely disappointed, thus becoming a jaded, cynical individual in the process.

I think people aren't mean so much as bitter over things not going their way. Some people are actually calm about it, but sadly, the vocal minority drowns them out.

The Ridley fan base isn't mean or bad at all, we're victims of verbal abuse and bullying from detractors. Stop generalising and giving us a bad name just because you've encountered some bad apples of the fan base that no way represents us as a whole. We just want a character in the game, that's all.

Well I'd say the main reason Wolf fans are upset is because Sakurai cut him in the worst way possible. Leaving his theme as the Corneria alt song, Fox's custom move Wolf Flash, the trophy being of his assault model ( not brawl look), referenced in many Star Fox trophies(minor), brawl and 643d voice actors in credits, possibly hinting at codecs on the Wii U, StarFox is getting a NEW GAME ON WII U and Wolf is in it., and the possibility of more painful reminders on the Wii U. It doesn't help that Falco is nerfed and Star Fox is the only franchise in smash bros that lost something without gaining anything. Earthbound lost Lucas, but got Star Man assist trophy and Devil car smash run enemy as well as a lot of new trophies. This is a pretty unforgivable cut when you consider all that. All the other cut veterans just have a trophy and aren't directly named in custom moves ( Its PK freeze not Lucas' PK Freeze, Couldn't name it Fox Flash.) Veterans not getting in are worse than newcomers not getting in.
