Why is the final destination platform smaller (battlefield sized) on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?

Why is the platform smaller? They need to make the final destination platform bigger like on previous smash games because it's battlefield sized but why?

I noticed this also. It seems like all the characters are bigger, or all the stages are smaller. I mean, King K takes up a third of Smashville by himself. I think this is to push the off-stage meta.

Yeah I noticed that too, but I love massive levels like hyrule temple and great cave offensive anyway. Or stages with lots of places to go like fourside.

Probably because of the battlefield forms, this way they just need to add platforms to each of the omegas.

It also helps mitigate campy playstyles for most characters, which is whatever. I don't mind camping as long as it isn't unfair.
