Why is my gameplay so inconsistent?

Somedays I play super well and others I play complete garbage. I play roughly the same amount everyday. Thanks for stopping by this thread.

It could be because you aren’t focusing on specific things that you’re having trouble with, like buffering short hop aerials, which is what’s causing the inconsistency in your play. The foundation of how you play is influenced by how well you can perform casual and advanced techniques (i.e. B-reversing and buffering short hop aerials), and neglecting them especially if you are inconsistent with them will cause you to feel like you’re playing great and worse at times. You should mainly focus on the ones that you tend to find yourself utilizing the most, since consistency can help you play with more comfort.

I would also say that you should always play a practice match offline with low level CPU’s or utilize the training mode to warm up before you actually start playing. It tends to help you get comfortable to the feel of the game, especially if you tend to play once in a while or play between the different Smash titles. Even if you play everyday, a simple warm up can help sharpen your inputs.

I wouldn’t place high expectations for online if I were you, since online has a different atmosphere than offline. Online mode makes it really difficult to react to punishes on time because of the 5 frames of native input lag (both offline and online), and the minimum 5 frames added even if you have an ideal connection. That’s 10 frames online + additional frames if the connection is poor, which makes you play much worse.
