Why is it still called Classic Mode

As KaZe said, because it's the mode where you fight slightly randomized (besides in N64) enemies in a set number of stages.

Its the same thing, this time however, instead of going in a straight set of matches, you get to choose your own path.

Um I didn't say it was bad. I PREFER IT THIS WAY. IDK if u noticed but I wasn't complaining. I was just wondering why it was still called classic mode when it's entirely different now.

It's the default, standard single player mode. It's classic mode.

Same reason why "Arcade Mode" is still called "Arcade" despite many fighting games not being on arcades anymore. It's just a term that people associate with fighting randoms.

It's still the basic idea of Classic Mode. You go through a set number of enemies, sometimes with certain characteristics like being Giant, in a team, or metal, and then end it with a battle with Master/Crazy Hand. Just this time it has a little map with paths you can change up a little and a certain.... Sinister secret at the end as well. c:

Because I still get to play as Mario, beat up Master Hand, and save the universe.
At least that's how I always pictured in my past, hah.
Now I can play as damn Megman and Palutena and fight what appears to be a giant anti-spiral
