Why is Common5.pac making my game freeze when it's smaller than the original PM file?

I've been messing around with BrawlBox lately and somehow I've come across an issue where the game just freezes when I try going to the character selection screen. I don't quite understand it. The only things I've changed recently is a few images for the stages and characters, and the file size is actually SMALLER than the original. Can someone explain this to me?

Brawl can be pretty picky about stuff like image dimensions and file size limits. Make sure the dimensions of the image you added are the same as (or proportional to) those that you replaced. Also, individual modeldata files seem to have their own file size limit. It's possible to exceed that limit and get a freeze even though you didn't exceed the overall common5.pac one.

Same for Project M also right?

The only thing I can think of that I changed is a stage portrait so changing that back should fix it, I'm assuming.
