Why does my Riivolution never work?

Hey guys,
I've downloaded Brawl+ packs of all sorts. I just extract to a clean SD card and go to Riivolution but it only shows a blank screen. Installing the channel gives me a -2 error that I don't care about, but Riivolution never shows any options. All I really want to do with modding brawl is textures and new music, the gameplay is just fine for me right now.

My guess is that the XML file isn't being read properly or something lame about how I can't select options for Riivolution if I have a GCT on my sd card?

I'm just really confused. Can somebody just upload me their ****? I probably just messed up hacking my Wii 3 years ago.

TL;DR - My Riivolution gives me a blank screen. I just want textures and custom music.

Edit: http://www.smashboards.com/archive/index.php?t-300872.html is one of the packs I've tried besides the Brawl+ Gold installers (I've tried them all v_v)

riivolution
apps


What hack do you use? SmashStack or Homebrew Channel?

Do you have the xml in the riivolution folder?

Is the xml the only thing you have in the folder?

But yes, I have all of that. I use the HBC as well. Basically, picture using the HBC Brawl+ gold pack ( http://www.smashmods.com/forum/page/bpdownload.html ) on a blank, freshly formated SD card.

I'm going to try out your SD configuration with my SD card and see if I can get it to work properly. Does anybody else have any idea the default HBC brawl+ gold pack will not work with my Riivolution on a fresh SD card install? Am I missing a certain IOS?
