It's starting to get annoying. We all know that there will only be 1 third party character per franchise. If Shadow is going to be in the game in any form, I see him as an assist trophy, costume, or role in Sonic's subspace. We don't need Sonic's emo clone in brawl...with rocket skates. (Sonic can do chaos control too, Shadow is only the "BAMF" of the sonic franchise. He is still a black and red clone.) *Prepares for flaming from Shadow fanboys/girls*

Why does everyone insist on Shadow the Hedgehog being in brawl?

I see him as a costume or subspace character, like you said.
But the AT should really go to Tails or Knuckles. (Possibly Eggman too)
They're the classic, best known characters. I think.

Who is this "everyone" you speak of. I know I'm not one of them. It's really annoying when people say Why does everyone blah blah blah blah blah.
Don't even worry about it He's not going to be in besides an AT or Sonic alt so complaining about something so small is silly.

If you look at a lot of character predictions (especially on youtube) many, many people request shadow the hedgehog as thier most wanted character. Look at some top 10's too. You will see Shadow's name somewhere high up there. It's even more dissapointing when you see Sora, Cloud, and Rayman with Shadow, but no Mega Man or Geno (the most likely epic updates coming up on the Brawl website.) And I wouldn't complain about something so small if I didn't see this many times. The part about him possibly being an AT or costume/subspace was just me trying to appease his massive fanbase.

He'll be an Alt. costume. I'm almost certain Brawl will not have two 3rd party people from the same series, since there can only be 3+1 of them (unless the +1 means another from the same franchise).

Well, I've actually seen more Knuckles fans than Shadow fans, but one really bad Shadow fantard feels like twenty.
The first post is right about a few things: Shadow's not as great as people like to say he is, nor is he that different from Sonic. I basically see him as a slower version of Sonic who's inclined to rely on some outside source of power (Gun, Emerald, ect.). Sonic kicks *** because he's fast and self-reliant. Therefore, Sonic >Shadow. IMO, of course.
The emo thing is a bit unfounded, though.
But any way you cut it, the most Shadow could be in Brawl is a clone character of Sonic. And I just don't see him getting in over Tails or Knuckles.
Sigh. . .If only they'd included that alternate costume in EForAll, we wouldn't have to deal with this kind of speculation. . .

Hopefully Shadow's terrible character won't even appear as an AT, but chances are it will.
Sonic alone is good. Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and maybe metal Sonic as assists are fine. Eggman as an SSE boss please. No more crappy Sonic characters fom recent games. Those ones are the only decent characters. Anything after 2000 has sucked hardcore.
