Why does cloud speak japaness

The reason why is because Clouds voice actor, Steve Burton, has a contract where he has to be credited for playing Cloud in English. Pit and Dark Pit’s voice actors were able to get through since their voice actors were uncredited by Nintendo. Since Nintendo is dealing with union voice actors, their usual move would be to uncredit them to obtain the full use of the voice clips, but they can’t with Steve Burton. Even if Nintendo were to give him a pseudonym, it would violate his contract since he HAS to be credited. Due to this, it was impossible to reach him.
I don’t think they would get another voice actor because of Square Enix, since Steve Burton was the only person to voice Cloud in English, including Square Enix’s own published games.

Interesting to know. It's to bad the character can't have a new English voice added that can be swapped back and forth with the Japanese voice actor. That was one of the coolest bonuses in Marvel vs Capcom 3; the ability to swap every character in the game's voices with the Japanese and English Voice actors.
