I mean seriously? all I can use them for is multiplayer matches? What is the point in training it just to kick my own butt?

You can't use your amiibos in Group mode, as they're not able to adapt to anything that Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and Master Core can dish out. Likewise, they're likely not programmed to use All-Star mode's healing items sparingly.

Lastly, they might not obey the group event requirements, as some of the events require you to NOT KO certain fighters.

To add on, there's also the fact that Amiibo can kill themselves when playing on certain maps because they wont be used to it or items which can mean a failed attempt at a game mode because your AI partner doesn't know how to counter something.
