Why are the Japanese and American Tier Lists So Different?

After looking at them they have some very stark differences. Why is that? Does it just have to do with the top players in the country? I do agree with the Japanese tier list more.

american and japanese ssb64 games have many differences. look for some kind of list or post in the index thread

a lot of the stuff in here has influenced the way the meta has developed in japan

edit: im actually reading some of the "summaries" of why characters are better/worse in certain versions now, and a lot of that reasoning is either bad or just outdated, so just look at the list of factual differences and not the subjective "why is x better in japanese version" in this site.

Hmmm...Yoshi is better in the Japanese version apparently. :c

Pretty sure you read that wrong and yoshi is better in NTSC. Not to mention that list seems inaccurate, it doesn't even mention samus's upB changes.

"Yoshi is considered to be slightly better in the Japanese version due to less SDI making his down aerial much better and easier to use, along with a a slightly better short hop as well as faster air speed."
