Who is the most Underrepresented Character?

What character has the smallest fanbase? Which character is the most hipster

I would put a guess on G&W. Pretty much every character in this game I think has had some sort of recent or in the past popularity for one reason or another.

Roy's our boy
Taj - Mewtwo
GimpyFish - Bowser
Zelda has the toe.
Kirby because kirby
High tier'd characters because they are good.
Luigi for the wavedash.
Mario since he is a good mascot.

Again, G&W is really the only character I have never really heard of being very popular. At least Pichu/Kirby are so bad people will make fun of it. G&W sort of doesn't get anything.

I know tons of G&W players who actually keep G&W as a secondary or tertiary character because he's secret OP and has a lot of strengths that work well on people unfamiliar with the matchup. His edgeguards are great, his priority is great, he's a huge pain to edgeguard, he kills other characters early and his shield pressure and grab options are all great

if the forums didn't suck so much ass now you could still see which character discussion boards had the most/least posts and determine it that way

I am not really sure if that gives a small or large fanbase at all. I was sort of just gauging based of of reputation in a variety of things. Captain Falcon most likely has the largest reputation. Pichu/Kirby get discussed for which is worse. Roy has something similar with being popular. Fox, ICs, Doc, Ganon, etc. are simply popular due to tier list position and such. Plus, adorable characters like Pikachu/Pichu/Kirby get those extra factor points among the other non-smashboards people. Ness, Zelda, G&W, DK, are really the only characters I can think of that do not have a variety of natural rep objects.

I would say in my experiences DK seems to be what I've seen the least of. Even with friendlies when people are just picking "fun" characters, I rarely see anyone choose DK.

I'm not entirely sure how we are defining underrepresented. Just fewest people playing said character? Fewest well-known/good players of that character? Fewest players relative to the character's position on the official tier list? Some amalgamation of the above?

I'd say that despite Hbox and some others doing well with Puff, there are not many Puff mains when compared to other top tiers.

I can't even name a pichu main so thats my answer. And despite BS lack of l-canceling on certain aerials and having no shield, G&W has some of the most broken (disjointed) hitboxes in the game.

In terms of amount of people playing a character, I'd say Pichu or G&W.

Most hipster char? Ness for sure. Pichu at least has the credit of being a pokemon.

I feel like Pichu get's played somewhat often simply because he's commonly labeled the "worst".
