I'm probably going to turn of FS's and items right away (maybe not FS's at first, but I will eventually) so I can focus on the characters. I'll keep all stages on random, but I'll weed some that either aren't fun. For instance, Norfair and Mushroomy Kingdom are looking like they're gonna go quickly.
