First of all, yes,I posted a similar rant in "Assist Trophy Characters". Anyway, I am now terrified that guys like ROB,BAlloon Fighter, Mach Rider,Captain Olimar had good chances of getting char slots, and they all seem like they'll be "down-graded" to Assist Trophy status. I know its better to be an AT than nothing at all, whos scared that they're favorite WTF character isn't going to make it?

i am worried about balloon fighter, little mac, and olimar. ROB and the rider i dont care so much for, but they would make excellent assists

Before today,I was thinking that there could easily be at least three or four retro/weird chars in SSBB; now I'm praying that Pit isn't the only one.

little mac and balloon fighter have enough aswseumeness to srvive on their own as far as retros go. olimar has a hit series on his hands so i dont worry about him either.

Let's look at what characters are revealed as ATs: Hammer Bros. - generic Mario minion, no one expected him to even be in the game, Nintendog - odd character from it's own DS game, again no one expected it to be in the game or playable (other than from the E3 trailer), and Goroh - a character a lot of people *hoped* to be in Brawl, mostly because they wanted a Captain Falcon rival and more F-Zero rep.

Well, we are not sure about additional rep for F-Zero yet; it is too soon to tell. Looking back, Goroh wasn't even on any of the Sakurai character polls. The only other F-Zero character to make it was Black Shadow, who could easily take the villain roll for FZ if they so chose to put him in.

Really, there is no reason to worry about any character at this stage. So far, it seems to be, that ATs have been added to keep characters around who wouldn't otherwise be in the game, not to downgrade those characters who all expected to be in. So...yes, some retro characters are at risk, but this was expected anyway. No one truly expects 10 retro characters to be in the game. The gift, now, is that more will be in than would have otherwise been. As for Ct. Olimar...I really don't see why he was even brought up. So he is a little obscure? So what? That is what smash is all about...bringing characters of all kinds together. Nintendo is going to want to show off it's new series; I have no doubts Pikmin will have rep as a *playable* character. For crying out loud, he is one of the top 7 or 8 choices based on the character polls with 3 mentions.

So, I'd wait to see some better evidence of this before I got my panties in a bunch...

Good point. I'm also hoping for Captain Olimar to be a PC.

ok 1, links uncle made it on that pole which was japanese only need i remind you, so that makes me doubt very seriously that it counts fer ****, and by that i mean that sakurai isn't looking at a character and then all of the sudden goes "oh he wasn't in a japanese only pole so he can't get in". i mean snake got in because of one guy, so i doubt the lives of every single character being considered for smash is hindering on one pole.

2, goroh was a much better choice then black shadow, he had a bigger fanbase rooting for him and he was a more original character. so in conclusion i doubt weel see any f-zero rep. but then again when you think about it, f-zero can go with 1 rep for a while. falcon is an excellent character and f-zero isn't that big of a series on the nintendo lineup when compared with allot of other series, so it doesn't matter atm.

Well, even though I like Samurai Goroh ALOT better than Black Shadow,bull-boy is looking more likely...(still not very likely, but his chances are better than SG's now)

Well he certainly takes the poll into account, in the 1999 melee poll all of the top requested characters (except king dedede) appeared in melee.

I'm certain that the most requested characters from the poll will appear one way or another.
