I have no idea what to search for to see if this was already posted, so I'll just make a new thread.

Basically, it's possible to get ONLY White Pikmin by standing near the edge of a stage, facing inward, then using B. This takes advantage of the fact that White Pikmin don't fly far back when plucked. If you're standing at the *perfect* distance (which isn't all to hard to find), any other color Pikmin will simply fly off the stage. If you're too far forward, none of the Pikmin will fly off (normal pluck). If you're too close to the edge, all Pikmin will fly off the stage (pointless).

This is actually a frightening technique. You can gather 2-3 White Pikmin in a matter of seconds, then lob them at your foe for easy damage. If you gather 6 (this can still take a while), you can get your opponent to 200% in a matter of seconds. (If your opponent doesn't shake them off)

If you're almost *perfect*, but a little too far in, Purple Pikmin will slip through. This means that you can easily farm Purple Pikmin by standing at this "imperfect" distance and throwing off any White Pikmin you pluck. It's easier than it seems. Jump to count your Pikmin (if you must). Use Smash (Down) A to send two Pikmin in front to the back. Use Smash (Up) A to send one Pikmin in front to the back. Use Smash (Side) A (Recommended... See Note) or Side B to throw White Pikmin off the stage. As you may recall, Pikmin of any other color will fly off the stage on their own when you pluck at this distance.

Note: If you use Smash moves to sort your Pikmin, you can expedite your sorting process by using the C-Stick. Let's say you have five White Pikmin in front and one Purple Pikmin. You can tap the C-Stick down twice (shifts the four White Pikmin to the back), then tap it to the side to throw the Purple Pikmin off the stage. Simple!

Also, you don't have to use this to amass White Pikmin. Suppose you have four Pikmin of various colors and you want to throw two White Pikmin. Just use this trick to gather those two White Pikmin, use Smash (Down) A twice, and now you have two White Pikmin in front all ready for throwing.

This isn't as fast as you think. Nor that effective.

Pikmin do not die until they fall off the stage. So, there's still a delay while plucking and it'll take a significant amount of time in a game to get six. Time your opponent will not give you.

Secondly, having a lot of white Pikmin is bad. They have little killing power and rarely survive attacks. Chucking six of them at your opponent will, in reality, do very little damage and leave you with no Pikmin. In order for whites to do their job, you need to force your opponent to have a greater priority than Pikmin removal (recovery, dodging, etc.). Throwing a purple (if close enough) right after a white is a good way to get a few latch hits in. Not to mention that any smart player will let maybe on Pikmin on you and begin jabbing the rest to their non-existent graves.

Purples are also bad in high numbers: horrible range and can't latch to build damage. Having six of one color is generally not good, and getting six of one color is very time-consuming.

This is good advice, however, to ensure one purple. Having no purples leaves you totally vulnerable to edgehogging, so being able to cherry-pick one might be nice if you get the time.
