Whiffed Grab desynch: Viable?

I find myself doing this sometimes where I'll purposefully whiff a grab in front of my opponent jsut to get them to charge into a Nana Blizzard Popo Grab. It's a hell of a mind game and not many people know that ICs can desynch form a whiffed grab. Is it viable in higher level play?
