So I wanna start playing more but I dont always have an n64 with me, so I thought id just download a the ROM and do it that way. Is there any downfall with using a rom over the actual console version? Also with said rom, which controller would be better.

The Adapter

Finally. At Zenith last year they had people cleaning players Gamecube controllers for a price. Is anyone going to Apex that is/may do that kind of thing but instead grease N64 controllers?

the problems with the rom, for me, is the inherent fluctuating FPS, frame delay online, lag, and overall more potential for ****ing up your inputs because it's fake smash ****. but it's a good way to improve and play people you otherwise never would. tourneys will always have consoles at them.

get the adapter and an OG controller with a decent stick. there will be people with grease at apex, but keep in mind if your stick is already ****ty and wobbly, grease won't help anything. it only PREVENTS wear, so it should be used on a decently stiff controller. if you ask supernice i'm sure people will let you grease up.

you're going to apex and want a greased stick but you aren't registered for 64

Lmfao paying someone else to clean out your controller, what a f***ing joke and waste of money. I had no idea those guys were charging money. I cleaned out my own gamecube and n64 controller easily and I don't even play melee.

But yeah dude at apex there'll definitely be peeps such as KNITEPHOX AND MYSELF that will help you and teach you how to grease your n64 sticks with no charge.

Well id be registered for it but no one on the apex staff wants to answer emails or tweets. Trying to switch from melee doubles to smash 64. And I have basically a new controller that my friend gave to me. Just not greased or anything. And I don't wanna **** it up
